Caldwell Park & Environmental Learning Center
Caldwell Park is a 62-acre natural area located at 2392 Hwy 92 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The park is home to the Mahaska County Environmental Learning Center (ELC) as well as the offices of Mahaska County Conservation.
Visitors are welcome to explore the ELC and enjoy a variety of educational exhibits and programs led by naturalists. Indoor highlights include a life-sized woolly mammoth skeleton, a 1,000-gallon native fish aquarium, and live animal displays.
Outside, the park offers something for everyone. Guests can picnic at the tables near the lower level of the Environmental Learning Center, hike scenic trails, or play a round on the 18-hole disc golf course that winds through woods and prairie.
The all-inclusive nature playscape, located on the west side of the ELC, is open to visitors of all ages. This outdoor space features thousands of native plants, picnic areas, a walking path with musical instruments, and nature-inspired climbing features.
